It’s one of the hottest dates on the art-lover’s calendar: Miami Art Week. Collectors flock to the sunshine state for what has become an all-encompassing celebration of creative energy, with over 20 different art fairs, museum events, public art projects and partying. Colección SOLO, of course, was in on the action.
We kicked off the week at Untitled, Art, now in its fifth year, where we were impressed by Matthew Stone’s solo show presented by The Hole NYC. Next stop was Scope Miami Beach, which this years brings together 125 different exhibitors from 22 countries, consolidating its position as the premier fair for the emerging contemporary art market.
Context Art Miami is also dedicated to mid-career and emerging talents, and we were delighted to view work by Colección SOLO artist, Dan Hernandez, among the excellent pieces on display there. And at Pulse Miami Beach, the PLAY section provided a compelling showcase of video and new media work.
It is Art Basel Miami, however, that draws in the crowds. This year, over 200 of the world’s leading international modern and contemporary art galleries are participating, showing works by more than 4,000 artists. A genuine adventure for art lovers and collectors!
And after a hectic schedule of talent hunting… What better than a stroll around Wynwood Art District to take in the spectacular murals by artists including Colección SOLO favourites Ron English and Okuda San Miguel?
