J. Shia is a young Arab-American artist, internationally recognized for her unconventional mechanical sculptures. Her motorcycle builds, which have garnered numerous awards, challenge viewers to consider these machines not just as performance-focused vehicles, but as interactive works of art. Her recent explorations in mixed media and contemporary sculpture display the same playfully pareidolic aesthetic. Shia is a graduate of the Massachusetts College of Art & Design, where she studied photography and metalworking.
She is the founding owner of Madhouse Motors in Boston, MA, a motorcycle shop that specializes in antique and rare restorations, custom builds, and specialty fabrication.
