Originally from Granada, Marina Vargas is a Spanish artist renowned for her work created under a critical feminist lens. Graduating with a degree in Fine Arts from the University of Granada in 2003, she later completed a Master’s degree in Art Production and Research at the same university in 2011. Vargas embarked on her professional career in 2001, exhibiting experimental works even before completing her degree.

Vargas’s artworks engage in profound discussions on Judeo-Christian religious idolatry within the Western context, exploring themes of sexuality, femininity, violence, love, and desire. Her pieces are characterized by a dramatic, brutal, yet beautifully intertwined aesthetic. They embody a reimagined symbolism of contemporary identities, forging a new, hybrid, and occasionally unsettling concept of beauty that deviates from the traditional classical canon.

Marina Vargas has held solo exhibitions worldwide, with notable shows in Italy, New York, Turkey, and throughout her native Spain. She has also participated in artist residencies in Morocco and Spain, furthering her exploration and contributions to plastic art.
