Shane Piacevoli (b. 1976) is the pseudonym of Ġużè Stagno, a critically acclaimed and prize-winning pop novelist from the Mediterranean island of Malta who in recent years has branched out into the visual arts, in particular toy photography. A toy collector for as long as he can remember, as well as a long-time lover of Japanese popular culture – one of his earliest memories is watching Mazinger Z on his family’s old black and white TV, sometime in the early ‘80s – he tries to marry these two passions in working on the Tokusatsu Mon Amour project (mission statement: ‘a humble homage to Showa-era tokusatsu’) on Instagram. He currently lives in Brussels with his wife, daughter and his ever-expanding Japanese toy collection.
