Juana González has a degree in Fine Arts from the Complutense University of Madrid. Her work has been shown in national and international exhibitions such as the Sala Robayera (Cantabria), the Museum of the City of Móstoles, the Museum of the University of Alicante or the Musée des Beaux-Arts de La Chaux-of Funds in Switzerland.

She has been recognized with the honorable mention of the ABC Awards for Painting and Photography (2003), the Meetings of Contemporary Art of the Alicante Institute of Culture Juan Gil- Albert (2012), the Franked Circuit of Casa Franca in Madrid (2015) or the VIII Encontro New Artists of Santiago de Compostela (2018).

Juana González’s work is developed in the disciplines of painting and drawing. The imposing-sized paintings are stagings of characters involved in mysterious tasks in a complex and original set. Her style is inscribed at the same time in expressionism, surrealism and narrative figuration.

“My paintings are staged baroque compositions. Scenarios in which the characters are involved in a story. There is narration, but incomplete. There are fragments of a story where I don’t know exactly what’s going on, and I don’t know if I want to know. I want to stay in that state of confusion and daze that can provoke the contemplation of a mysterious scene. Nor are they absolute nonsense. That doesn’t interest me. I think there are enough elements to build possible narratives depending on the way of looking. In this way the viewer enters the game of trying to read the meaning to understand or discover something new.”
