Originally from Cádiz, Ana Barriga got her degree in Fine Arts in the University of Seville. Being someone who is inspired by play, she always tries to bring a sort of childish energy to the studio.
Barriga even plays with the canvas themselves, breaking, mutilating, erasing, and redrawing them. This freeness to her work allows her to explore the balance between reason and emotion, mixing structured backgrounds and characters with free-forming lines, expression, and toys in her paintings.
In the past couple of years, Barriga has received numerous awards for her work; most recently in Void, Miami, Casa Encendida, Madrid, and Certamen Artes Plásticos from the University of Seville.
