Josefsohn was a highly influential photographer who significantly shaped the visual aesthetics of West Germany. Since 1995 he worked as a freelance photographer, capturing images that perfectly encapsulate the outlandish, punk, and absurd generation to which he belonged. He initially gained acclaim through a series of monochrome portraits of young people, commissioned for an MTV initiative. In addition to his photographic endeavors, Josefsohn also ventured into filmmaking.

Josefsohn’s photography seamlessly blends art, design, and fashion, reflecting the essence of a generation renowned for its eclectic mix of artistic influences and styles. This juxtaposition of surface beauty and underlying themes imbues Josefsohn’s work with a provocative and politically charged resonance. Through his lens, he explored subjects ranging from right-wing extremism in Germany to the Middle East conflict, revealing unsettling motifs and scenes that capture the complexities of his conflicted identity as a German-Jewish individual.
